How to do the Vrikshasana (Tree Pose) posture?
Vrikshasana, commonly known as Tree Pose, is a foundational yoga posture that improves balance, stability, and concentration. Inspired by the steady and grounded nature of a tree, this asana helps strengthen the lower body while enhancing mental focus and posture alignment. It is widely practiced in beginner and intermediate yoga routines for overall physical and mental well-being.
Step-by-Step Guide to Perform Vrikshasana
- Stand upright in a comfortable position with arms relaxed and palms facing forward.
- Take a deep breath and lift your right leg. Place the sole of your right foot on the inner left thigh (above the knee).
- Maintain balance by stabilizing your breath and gradually straightening the spine.
- Inhale and raise both arms overhead.
- Join your palms in Namaskar Mudra above the head, keeping the elbows straight and close to the ears.
- Fix your gaze on a single point in front to improve focus and balance.
- Hold the posture for a few breaths.
- Repeat on the opposite side and practice 3-4 rounds, gradually increasing the holding time.
