Why is it called Nasikagra Mudra (Nose Tip Gazing)?
The term Nasikagra Mudra is derived from two Sanskrit words: Nasika, meaning nose, and Agra, meaning tip or front. In this yogic practice, the practitioner gently focuses the gaze on the tip of the nose, which helps enhance concentration and inner awareness.
How to Perform Nasikagra Mudra
- Sit comfortably on a yoga mat, floor, or chair according to your convenience.
- Adopt any meditative posture (Dhyanatmak Asana) such as Padmasana or Sukhasana.
- Relax your body and stay focused on your natural inhalation and exhalation. Allow the breath to become slow, deep, and steady.
- Place both hands on the knees in Gyana Mudra, keeping the spine erect.
- Gently bring both eyeballs toward the midline and focus the gaze at the tip of the nose.
- Maintain the gaze without strain until mild watering of the eyes occurs.
- Continue breathing calmly and deeply throughout the practice.
