Yoga Postures >> Mushti Mudra (Fist Gesture) Yoga Posture

Why is it called Mushti Mudra?

The word Mushti means "fist" in Sanskrit, while Mudra means "gesture" or "seal". Mushti Mudra, also known as the Fist Gesture, symbolizes strength, determination, confidence, and inner power. Forming a fist represents the ability to overcome negativity, strengthen willpower, and achieve one's goals with courage and focus.

How to Perform Mushti Mudra

  1. Sit comfortably on the floor, yoga mat, or a chair according to your comfort.

  2. Assume any comfortable meditation posture, such as Padmasana (Lotus Pose), Sukhasana (Easy Pose), or another meditative sitting position.

  3. Close your eyes and take a few slow, deep breaths. Allow your breathing to become calm, natural, and rhythmic.

  4. Place both hands gently on your thighs with the backs of your hands resting comfortably on them.

  5. Fold all the fingers inward to form a fist, and place the thumb comfortably over the first three fingers.

  6. Keep your shoulders and arms relaxed throughout the practice.

  7. Focus your attention on the Manipura Chakra (Solar Plexus Chakra) and observe the flow of natural energy and vibrations within your body.

  8. Continue breathing slowly and deeply while maintaining the mudra for the desired duration.
