How to Do Marichyasana (Sage Marichi Pose)
Marichyasana, also known as Sage Marichi Pose, is a seated twisting yoga posture that helps improve spinal flexibility, strengthens the core, and supports healthy digestion.
Steps to Perform Marichyasana
- Sit comfortably in Dandasana (Staff Pose) with both legs extended straight in front of you.
- Inhale deeply and bend your right knee, placing the right foot close to the inner side of the left knee.
- Lengthen your spine and gently twist your torso to the right.
- Place your left arm around or across the bent right knee and rest your right hand behind your body for support.
- Turn your head to look over your right shoulder while keeping the spine tall and straight.
- Hold the final position for a few comfortable breaths.
- Slowly release the twist while exhaling and return to Dandasana.
- Repeat on the opposite side.
- Practice 3-4 rounds on each side, gradually increasing the duration of the final pose.
