How to do Kukkutasana Yoga Pose

Kukkutasana, also known as the Rooster Pose, is an advanced yoga posture that enhances balance, strengthens the arms and core, and improves flexibility. The pose resembles a rooster standing upright, symbolizing alertness and strength.

Step-by-Step Guide to Perform Kukkutasana

  1. Begin in Dandasana (Staff Pose) by sitting with your legs extended straight in front.

  2. Slowly bend your knees and place each foot on the opposite thigh. Padmasana (Lotus Pose).

  3. Inhale deeply and gently pass your hands through the gaps between your thighs and calves, starting with the right hand, followed by the left.

  4. Once both hands are comfortably placed, press your palms firmly into the ground for support.

  5. Exhale and lift your entire body off the floor, balancing on your palms. Keep your elbows straight and legs raised.

  6. Look straight ahead with your spine erect and your face forward.

  7. Breathe normally and hold the posture for 2-3 breaths.

  8. Slowly exhale, lower your body gently to the floor, and remove your hands.

  9. Straighten your legs and relax. You may repeat the pose 2-3 times if comfortable.
