How to do Krounchasana (Heron Pose)
Krounchasana, also known as the Heron Pose, is an advanced yoga posture that improves flexibility, strengthens the thighs, and enhances spinal alignment. Follow this step-by-step guide to practice Krounchasana safely.
Step-by-Step Instructions for Krounchasana
- Sit with legs extended forward and spine straight (Dandasana pose).
- Slowly inhale, bend your knees, and sit on your heels by pulling your toes back under your buttocks (Vajrasana).
- With an exhalation, stretch your left leg forward and hold the big toe with both hands.
- Pull the left leg upward in front of your face while keeping the spine tall and chest open.
- From the side view, your spine and leg form a "V" shape. Advanced practitioners may touch the head to the knee or toe.
- Slowly exhale, lower the leg back to the floor, and return to Dandasana.
- Perform on the right leg. Practice 4-5 times on each side.
