Yoga Postures >> Karana Mudra (Gesture of Warding Off Negativity) Yoga Posture
Why is it called Karana Mudra?
Karana Mudra, also known as the Gesture of Warding Off Negativity, is traditionally associated with the Buddha. This powerful yoga hand gesture is believed to remove obstacles, dispel negative energy, and promote mental clarity, positivity, and spiritual awareness.
How to Perform Karana Mudra
Sit comfortably on the floor, yoga mat, or a chair, according to your convenience.
Assume any comfortable meditation posture, such as Padmasana (Lotus Pose), Sukhasana (Easy Pose), or Vajrasana (Thunderbolt Pose).
Relax your body and take a few slow, deep breaths to calm the mind and establish a natural breathing rhythm.
Raise your right hand to heart level with the palm facing outward.
Bend the middle and ring fingers toward the palm, and gently press the tip of the thumb against the middle finger. Keep the index and little fingers extended comfortably.
Rest your left hand on your left knee with the palm facing upward and the fingers naturally extended.
Close your eyes and focus your attention on the raised hand. Observe the subtle sensations, vibrations, and flow of energy within the body.
Continue breathing slowly, deeply, and naturally throughout the practice.
