Why is it called Gyana Mudra?
Gyana Mudra is derived from the Sanskrit words "Gyana" meaning "Knowledge or Wisdom" and "Mudra" meaning "Gesture or Seal". This mudra is traditionally practiced to enhance spiritual awareness, wisdom, and the ability to receive pure and righteous knowledge from the universe and nature.
How to Perform Gyana Mudra
- Sit comfortably on the floor, a yoga mat, or a chair according to your convenience.
- Assume any comfortable meditation posture (Dhyana Asana) such as Padmasana (Lotus Pose) or Sukhasana (Easy Pose).
- Relax your body and bring awareness to your breath. Inhale and exhale slowly, maintaining a deep and steady breathing pattern.
- Place your hands on your knees or thighs with your palms facing upward and keep your hands relaxed.
- Join the tip of your thumb finger with the tip of your index finger to form a circle, while keeping the remaining three fingers extended naturally.
- Close your eyes, focus on your hands, and become aware of the natural vibrations and energy flowing through them.
- Continue breathing deeply and calmly while maintaining the mudra for a comfortable duration.
