How to do Gorakshasana (Yogi Goraksha Pose)

Gorakshasana, also known as the Yogi Goraksha Pose, is an advanced yoga posture that strengthens the thighs, knees, and ankles while improving body balance and concentration. This traditional yoga pose is recommended for intermediate to advanced yoga practitioners.

Step-by-Step Guide to Perform Gorakshasana

  1. Sit comfortably in Padmasana (Lotus Pose) or Sukhasana (Easy Pose).

  2. Inhale deeply and bend both legs from the knees towards the floor.

  3. Bring both toes to the ground and keep the heels together on the upper side.

  4. Place the groin and perineum on the soles, with toes bent and touching each other.

  5. Shift the entire body weight onto the knees and toes.

  6. With opposite palms or fingers, touch the heels for balance.

  7. Keep the spine, head, and neck aligned in one straight plane (avoid leaning forward or backwards).

  8. Fix your gaze at the tip of the nose (Nasikagra Drishti) or gently close your eyes for concentration.

  9. Hold the pose for 2 to 3 deep breaths.
