How to Do Bhekasana (Frog Pose)

Bhekasana (Frog Pose) is a challenging yoga asana that involves a deep stretch of the thighs, hips, legs, and ankles. Regular practice can help enhance lower-body flexibility, improve spinal movement, and support better posture. This advanced pose should be performed slowly and with proper guidance to avoid strain or injury.

Steps to Perform Bhekasana

  1. Lie on your stomach in Makarasana (Crocodile Pose) and relax your body.

  2. Take a deep breath and slowly bend both legs at the knees.

  3. Move both feet upward and toward the waist or head.

  4. Take both hands backwards and reach toward your feet.

  5. Hold the right foot with the right hand and the left foot with the left hand.

  6. Slowly move the feet downward and try to bring the soles toward the buttocks.

  7. In the final position, lift the face upward, gently bend the neck, and keep the spine slightly curved upward.

  8. Keep both legs bent at the knees and maintain the posture without jerking.

  9. Take a few slow, comfortable breaths while maintaining your balance.

  10. If performing the pose with both legs is difficult, practise by holding and bending one leg at a time.

  11. To come out of the pose, exhale, slowly release the feet and hands, and return to Makarasana to relax.

  12. Repeat the posture 3-4 times, gradually increasing the duration of the final position as your flexibility improves.
