Why is it called Asthma Mudra?

Asthma Mudra is traditionally practiced to support respiratory health and promote easier breathing.

How to Perform Asthma Mudra

  1. Sit comfortably on the floor, yoga mat, or a chair according to your convenience.

  2. Begin in a comfortable meditation pose, such as Padmasana, Sukhasana, or Vajrasana. You can also practice in a lying position (Shavasana).

  3. Close your eyes and gradually bring your breathing to a normal, slow, and deep rhythm.

  4. Place both hands comfortably near the thighs in a relaxed position.

  5. Bend both middle fingers toward each other and touch their fingernails. Keep the remaining fingers extended and relaxed.

  6. Close your eyes and focus your attention on your breathing.

  7. During the practice, breathe deeply from the abdomen and maintain a calm, steady breathing pattern.
