Uses of Flax seed (Alasi) :
Treats long term diseases.
Helps to suppurate swelling.
The mucilage of the seeds soaked in water is used for coating pills.
Habitat :
An annual herb, about 60cm tall is found at the foot hills, in slightly dry areas. It is also cultivated by the local Indian farmers for oil production. Linseed oil is used as a drying agent in paints and varnishes.
Method of processing :
The matured Flax seeds are collected during August. However the flowering and fruiting of the plant may slightly vary from place to place. After proper collection, they are dried in a clean location.
