English Name : Mango,Cuckoo's joy

Tibetan Name : Aa-drae-shing, Shingtok-ama

Hindi Name : Aam

Part used : Seeds

Taste : Sour to sweet

Quality : Warm


Uses of Aam :

  • Treating loss of kidney heat.
  • Kidney malfunction and other types of kidney diseases.


  • Habitat :

    A large spreading tropical evergreen tree, 15m or taller in height with small reddish or yellowish green flowers. The juicy fruit encloses a hard fibrous seed. It can be found throughout India, in forests up to 1200m and also widely cultivated for marketing in many tropical countries.



    Method of processing :

    The fruits are collected around june after maturation. Then the fruit pulps are separated and only the inner part of the seed coat are gathered and dried in a clean place. The seeds are then heated in hot sand and used in medicine.
