How to Use Vetiver for Skin:

  • Vetiver essential oil can be applied externally to improve skin health.

  • Vetiver water is also useful for hydrating or cleansing the face.

  • Root powder is also helpful as a face pack and natural scrubber for the face.

  • Cold infusions are beneficial for internal detoxification and are helpful in treating skin disorders.


  • Benefits for Skin:

  • Vetiver (Usheera) helps to hydrate and moisturize the skin.

  • It also regulates the oil secretions and sweat gland secretions.

  • Usheera maintains the pH of the skin and increases its tone.

  • It has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce inflammation and cure acne quickly.

  • It contains anti-aging properties, which increase collagen production and elasticity of the skin.


  • Side effects or risk factors:

  • If you have sensitive skin, you might experience irritation or redness after applying the vetiver oil, so you should test it before using. Always mix oil with a carrier oil, especially coconut oil.


  • Face packs preparation:

  • Steep vetiver root in half cold and half hot water in a pot overnight with a lid. Strain and store in an airtight container. Applying it to the skin 3 to 4 times a day will help as a skin cleanser and detoxifier.

  • Mix vetiver root powder with sesame oil, licorice root, and honey. Apply to the face for 20-30 minutes, and then wash with vetiver water. It helps to rejuvenate the skin.

  • Applying vetiver powder, Multani mitti, turmeric, and rose water to oily skin with acne reduces inflammation and acne.

  • Applying vetiver oil with coconut oil to the area of burning sensations or burns helps to soothe the skin. (Don't apply to the cut or wound).
