How to Use Raisins in the Kitchen
Raisins are highly beneficial for the stomach, throat, and overall immunity. They are commonly used as an ingredient in a variety of recipes.
In addition to their culinary uses, raisins have a soothing effect on the stomach and offer a sweet-tangy flavour.
They add richness and natural sweetness to dishes and can also serve as a helpful home remedy.

Raisins and Dried Pomegranate Sweet Rice:

Pomegranate seeds |

Jaggery |
½ cup |
Saffron |
5-6 strings |
Cardamom powder |
1 t.spoon |
Rice |
1 cup |

2-3 cups |
Recipe: |
Heat a heavy-bottomed frying pan and add the ghee. |
Add the raisins and pomegranate seeds, roasting them lightly for 1–2 minutes. Remove and set aside. |
In the same pan, add the soaked rice and saute for 3-4 minutes. |
Add salt and 2 cups of water. Cook for 8-10 minutes, checking to ensure the rice is fully cooked. |
Once cooked, stir in the jaggery, cardamom powder, saffron strands, and the roasted raisin-pomegranate mixture. Mix well and cook for another 3-4 minutes. |
This sweet and nutritious dish is perfect for lunch or dinner. It provides a rich blend of essential micronutrients from the ghee, jaggery, and raisins. |
Raisin Candies:
Ingredients: |
Raisins |

Rock sugar |
1½ cup |
Cardamom powder |
1 t.spoon |
Water |
2½ cup |
Recipe: |
In a heavy-bottomed pan, combine the rock sugar and water. Stir well and cook until it forms a thick sugar syrup, reaching a temperature of 230–235°C. |
Check the syrup consistency: when a drop is added to a glass of water, it should form threads without turning into a ball. |
Add the raisins to the syrup and mix thoroughly until they become translucent or semi-transparent. |
Spread the coated raisins onto a plate. Sprinkle with powdered rock sugar and cardamom powder. |
Once cooled, the raisins will set into a candy form. Store them in a clean, dry glass jar. |

Raisin Kokum Soup:
Ingredients: |
Raisins |
½ cup |
Kokum |
½ cup |
Ghee |
1 t.spoon |
Cumin seeds |
1 t.spoon |
Fennel seeds |
1 t.spoon |
Pepper powder |
1 t.spoon |
Salt |
As per taste |
Recipe: |
Soak the raisins and kokum in water for 3-4 hours. |
Blend the soaked mixture into a smooth paste, adding a little water if needed. |
Heat ghee in a frying pan. Add cumin and fennel seeds, and roast for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. |
Add salt and the kokum-raisin paste. Saute for 1-2 minutes. |
Add 2 cups of water and stir to achieve a semi-liquid consistency. Bring it to a boil and simmer for 6-7 minutes. |
Finish with a sprinkle of pepper powder and serve hot. |
This tangy-sweet soup is a refreshing and nutritious alternative to processed soups, perfect for children and a great homemade option for healthy snacking! |
