How to Use Fenugreek for Hair

  • Fenugreek seeds and fenugreek leaves paste is applied externally for hair care.

  • Fenugreek seed powder, and leaves are beneficial for detoxification and anti-inflammatory activity.

  • Methi leaves are beneficial in food preparation for better hair and body health.


  • Benefits of Fenugreek for Hair:

  • Fenugreek (Methi) has natural phytoconstituents, which help to reduce dandruff.

  • It has nicotinic acid that promotes natural hair growth.

  • Lecithin in fenugreek gives a natural shiny finish to the hair.

  • Fenugreek also has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities that help to prevent scalp diseases.


  • Side effects and risk factors:

  • Fenugreek seeds may worsen the symptoms of sinusitis and the common cold, so use wisely in those conditions.

  • Excessive intake of fenugreek seeds and leaves may cause diarrhea and heartburn.


  • Hair packs:

  • Soak fenugreek seeds for 5 minutes make the paste and add sesame oil to it. Apply this during the daytime to dandruff affected and itchy scalp for 15 minutes. Caution: Don't soak the seeds for more than 10 minutes.

  • Take a bowl of fenugreek leaves, 2-3 teaspoon of honey, and 2 teaspoons of almond, apply to the hair and scalp, it gives shine and bulk to the hair.

  • Take fenugreek seed powder with rose water and coconut oil, apply to the hair for 15-20 minutes. Later wash with the Triphala powder or mild shampoo. It helps to reduce dryness and promotes hair growth.
