How to Use Clove in the Kitchen
Clove is highly useful in the kitchen for various recipes and is also beneficial in home remedies for treating different ailments.
Clove oil is also beneficial in cooking and home remedies, such as relieving toothaches and other ailments.
Clove is the flower bud of the plant known for its spicy, aromatic, and pungent taste, making it a valuable kitchen spice.
Additionally, clove is commonly used in savoury dishes for tempering and adding a pungent, spicy flavour.

Recipes:
Clove-Mint Herbal Tea:
Ingredients: |
Clove |
2-3 |
Mint leaves |
2-3 t.spoon |
Lemon juice |
1 t.spoon |
Rock sugar |
1 t.spoon |
Black salt |
As per taste/ ½ t.spoon |
Tea |
¼ t.spoon |
Water |
2 cup |
Recipe: |
Take a mortar and pestle to finely crush the clove, mint leaves, and rock sugar into a smooth paste. |
In a pan, add water, salt, and tea, then bring it to a boil. |
Stir in the clove and mint mixture and continue boiling until the liquid is reduced by half. |
After boiling, strain the tea and mix in lemon juice. |
Serve hot. |
This remedy is beneficial for cough, cold, and sore throat. It also aids in weight loss and soothes stomach discomfort. |
Clove & Mix Vegetable Soup:
Ingredients: |
Clove powder |
1 t.spoon |
Clove |
2-3 for tempering |
Mix vegetables |
1 cup |
Tomato |
½ cup |
Oil |
2 t.spoon |
Water |
2-3 cups |
Potato |
½ cup |
Curry leaves |
1 t.spoon |
Coriander leaves and stem |
2 t.spoon |
Asafoetida |
¼ t.spoon |
Salt |
As per taste |
Recipe: |
Take a pressure cooker and add mixed vegetables, tomato, potato, cloves, and water. |
Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. |
Once the mixture cools down, blend it using a hand blender. |
Strain the blended mixture through a sieve. |
In a separate pan, heat oil and add asafoetida. |
Then, add curry leaves and the strained mixture, boiling for 5-10 minutes. Add salt as needed. |
Adjust the consistency to a semi-liquid form. |
Serve hot with brown rice or roasted oats. |
This is a healthy option for weight loss in obesity and is also beneficial for anorexia and indigestion. |
Clove-Sweet Potato Halwa:
Ingredients: |
Clove powder |
½ t.spoon |
Sweet potato (chopped) |
1 cup |
Jaggery |
½ cup |
Roasted dry fruits |
2 t.spoon |
Cow ghee |
3-4 t.spoon |
Nutmeg powder |
½ t.spoon |
Water |
Approx. 1 cup |
Recipe: |
Peel and finely chop the sweet potato, then rinse it thoroughly. |
In a pressure cooker, heat ghee and roast the sweet potato on medium flame for 1-2 minutes. Add jaggery and 2/3 cup of water. |
Pressure cook on low flame for 10 minutes. |
Once the mixture has cooled down, add clove and nutmeg powder. |
Mash the mixture well and cook on a medium flame for a few minutes. If the consistency is too thick, add milk as needed (optional). Stir in roasted and chopped dry fruits to achieve a semi-solid texture. |
Serve hot or cold, depending on the season. |
This dish provides a healthy sweet option for both children and the elderly, while also serving as an energy booster for adults. |
