Home Remedies of Arjuna

  • Arjuna is very useful to treat osteoporosis and fatigue caused due to old age. Boil 10 grams of Arjuna bark powder in 2 cups of water until it is reduced to half. Filter the decoction and consume it with 1/2 teaspoon of jaggery and a teaspoon of honey.

  • Take cow's ghee in a pan, shallow fry Arjuna bark powder and wheat flour. Add jaggery and water to make semi-liquid consistency. Once a day take this solution with milk as a general tonic.

  • Take 1 portion of milk with 2 portions of water by adding Arjuna Bark and boil it until only milk remains. Consume this if one suffering from cardiac disorders.

  • Soak a small piece of Arjuna bark in water overnight.The next morning mix the bark with honey and consume it on an empty stomach. This helps you to get relief from bleeding disorders and intrinsic haemorrhage.

  • To reduce the inflammation due to conjunctivitis, mix fine powder of Arjuna bark with water and apply it to the closed eyes.

  • To heal the wounds like diabetic foot and varicose ulcers, irrigate the wound with Arjuna bark and Nimba leaves (Azadirachta indica) decoction.

  • Rinsing with Arjuna bark decoction is also used to cure haemorrhoids.

  • To get rid of freckles and over pigmentation of the face, make a paste of Arjuna with Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia) mix it with honey and apply it on the face.

  • Mix Wheat flour and Arjuna bark powder with ghee and apply it to the fractured area. It helps to reunite and strengthen the bones.

  • Mix Arjuna bark powder with milk or treacle water and consume it twice a day after a meal. It is useful to fractures and contusion with extensive ecchymosis, as it promotes the union of fractures.

  • Mixing Arjuna bark powder with curd water and drinking in the morning is helpful to cure diarrhea and dysentery.

  • People suffering from hemoptysis and ulcers are suggested to take Arjuna bark powder, sandalwood powder, and sugar mixed with rice water.

  • Soak matured Arjuna leaves in water overnight and mash them with your hands. Apply this water over your hair and wash it after 10 minutes. This gives you shiny and quality hair.

  • Take equal quantities of Arjuna, Pterocarpus Marsupium and Bael tree bark and make a fine powder. Add 3 to 4 pinches of this powder to a cup of water and drink in the morning on an empty stomach. This helps to treat type 2 diabetes associated with peripheral neuritis and numbness.

  • Take 4 to 8 teaspoons of Arjuna kwath and add the same quantity of milk or water to it. Drink once or twice a day after food to manage lung problems like bronchitis.



  • Uses of Arjuna

  • For skin - Take a teaspoon of Arjuna bark powder or paste and mix it with honey. Apply it evenly to the skin and after 5 minutes wash it with normal water. Repeat this twice or thrice a week to get rid of acne and dark spots.

  • In heart-related chest pain - Take 10 to 20ml of Arjuna kwath, add the same quantity of milk or water to it and drink it once or twice a day after food to reduce the risk of chest pain.



  • Consideration for using Arjuna Bark

  • Consuming the Arjuna bark is good for the heart, liver, kidney, and stomach.

  • Eating/Drinking up to 500mg of the extract per day is considered safe.

  • Pregnant women and people who have planned for surgery are better to avoid using arjuna.
