What is Sunburn? And its symptoms?

  • When the body has over-exposure to intense sun-light, it harms the skin, and skin became red and inflamed.

  • It also depends upon skin type, time of exposure, and intensity of sun-light rays.

  • Sometimes it causes irritation, blisters, fever, itching, and peeling of the skin.

  • In extreme conditions, it leads to actinic keratosis- scaling skin lesions, and dehydration too.


  • Home Remedies for Sunburn

  • Wrap few ice cubes in a cloth and hold the compress over the affected area.

  • Mix 1 cup of fat-free milk with 4 cups water and then add a few ice cubes. Apply this for 15 to 20 minutes and repeat it every 2 to 4 hours.

  • Apply yogurt on the sunburned affected areas. Later wash it off with cool water and dry the skin.

  • Take 5 green tea bags and 3 cups of fresh mint leave in a pan and add 1/4 of boiling water to it. Cover the pan with the lid and let it sit for some time. Now take a cotton pad soak it into the liquid and apply it to the sunburn.

  • Take 1 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar and apply it to the affected area.

  • Take 1 or 2 fresh chilled Cucumbers and blend them into a paste. Apply this paste onto the sunburned affected area.

  • Add 20 to 25 drops of Lavender oil in 1 cup of water and use it to spray on the sunburned area.

  • Cut open 1 Aloe Vera leaf and take out the gel from it. Apply it directly to the affected skin.

  • Make a paste out of Potatoes and apply it directly to the skin.


  • Diet and Regimen for Sunburn

  • Take diet according to the seasonal regimen (in Ayurveda it has all 6 seasonal regimens are described.)

  • Take plenty of water during sun over-exposure or in the summer season.

  • Apply a sunscreen lotion or natural sun protection substances before getting sunlight exposure.

  • Apply mustard oil as a natural sunscreen as it protects skin from suntan and sunburn.

  • Take leafy vegetables and juicy fruits into the diet.
