What is a Sore Throat?

  • It is an inflammatory condition of the throat, which causes irritation, pain, scratchiness, and struggle in swallowing.

  • Also, it is associated with viral and bacterial infections, like flu, common cold, chickenpox, streptococcus, and Diptheria.

  • Causes and Triggering factors of Sore Throat

  • Poor sanitization.

  • Using other's belongings and utensils.

  • Direct contact with the infected person.

  • Overeating of extreme cold and sugary items.

  • Frequent sinus infections or allergies to food or dust.

  • Smoking.

  • Harmful chemical exposure.

  • Home Remedies for Sore Throat

    Sore Throat (Bacterial Infection)

  • Mix 1/2 spoon Lemon juice with 1 teaspoon of Honey (shahad) in 1 cup of warm water. Take this drink slowly.

  • Add 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 teaspoon of Lemon juice and Honey (shahad) to a cup of warm water. Drink this solution slowly 2 to 3 times a day.

  • Add 1 teaspoon each of Cinnamon (dalchini) powder and Black Pepper (kaali mirch) powder to a glass of warm water. Cool the solution and gargle with it 2 to 3 times a day.

  • Mix 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water. Gargle this water for some time and spit it out.

  • Eat a raw Garlic (lahasun) clove daily, which helps to kill the bacteria that causing the sore throat.

  • Add 1 teaspoon of the inner bark of Slippery Elm to 2 cups of boiling water. Leave it to steep for few minutes and strain the solution. Drink it slowly while it is still warm.

  • Sore Throat (Viral Infection)

  • Take a very little amount each of Honey (shahad), Lemon juice and crushed Ginger (adarak) in warm water. Drink this to get relief from Sore Throat.

  • Take a steamed Apple, smash it and add some Honey (shahad). Eat it for relief.

  • Add 2 teaspoons of chopped Horehound herb in 1 cup boiling water and boil it for about 10 minutes. Later strain the tea and drink it.

  • Diet and Regimen for Sore Throat

  • Take a wholesome, fresh, and warm diet.

  • Use the warm liquid to soothing the throat.

  • Make hot green gram soup for relief of pain.

  • Take proper rest and medication according to the severity.

  • Avoid mid-day sleep.

  • Pay attention to the stomach, as digestion is not proper it leads to severe infections.

  • Take help from a physician in severe conditions.
