How to Use Tulsi (Holy Basil) for Natural Deworming

Tulsi (holy basil) has been traditionally used as a natural remedy to support digestive health and help eliminate intestinal worms. When used appropriately, tulsi leaves may assist in natural deworming and help reduce the risk of recurring worm infestations.

  • Children may take 5-6 fresh tulsi (basil) leaves with ½ teaspoon of jaggery and warm water on an empty stomach in the morning as a traditional remedy to support natural deworming.

  • Mix 5-6 tulsi leaves, 1-2 black peppercorns, and ½ teaspoon of honey into a paste. Traditionally, this mixture is taken before bedtime to support natural deworming in children.

  • Prepare a paste using 5-7 tulsi leaves, ¼ teaspoon of ajwain (carom) seeds, ½ teaspoon of jaggery, and a little water. Consume it with warm water as a traditional remedy that may help eliminate intestinal worms.

  • Adults may take 1-2 teaspoons of warm sesame oil mixed with 5-7 fresh tulsi leaves in the morning with water. This combination has traditionally been used as a natural vermifuge to help expel intestinal worms.

  • To prepare tulsi herbal tea, add fresh tulsi leaves to boiling water and allow them to steep for 15-20 minutes. Drink the infusion and consume the softened leaves before meals for up to one week as part of a traditional natural deworming routine.

  • Precautions and Diet

  • Tulsi leaves are considered potent in traditional medicine and should be used with caution. Their suitability may vary depending on an individual's age, overall health, body constitution, and seasonal factors.

  • For better digestive health, eat freshly prepared, warm meals and avoid spicy, heavily processed, oily, or stale foods.

  • Avoid consuming tulsi leaves together with dairy products, as traditional practices recommend taking them separately.
