How to Use Reetha (Soapnut) for Hair:

  • Reetha decoction/ reetha soaked water is useful to wash hair and scalp.

  • Its powder is also useful as a pack and cleansing of the hair.

  • Oil prepared with reetha is also useful for hair regrowth and strengthening.

  • Reetha is also beneficial as a shampoo for deep cleaning and conditioning.


  • Benefits of Reetha for hair:

  • It cleanses the scalp and hair and removes oil and dirt as it is getting saponification naturally.

  • Reetha also deep conditioning the hair and give bouncy and naturally shiny hair.

  • This herb also promotes hair growth and hair follicle strengthening.

  • Reetha is an astringent, that helps to heal lesions and scalp acne as well.


  • Side effects and risk factors:

  • Wrong Internal use may lead to nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

  • Reetha powder, Triphala powder, sesame oil, and honey applied to hair and scalp for 30-45 minutes after washing with reetha water helps promote hair growth.

  • Use 1/2 cup of reetha concentrated decoction, add licorice root powder, multani mitti, lime juice, and neem leaves paste, and apply to the hair for 30 to 45 minutes, which helps to get rid of lice and dandruff.
