What is Indigestion (Dyspepsia)?

  • Indigestion is a term used to describe a feeling of fullness or discomfort during or after a meal.

  • It can be accompanied by burning or pain in the upper stomach.

  • It is a sign of some diseases like peptic ulcers, GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), an anomaly of the gallbladder.


  • Causes of Indigestion (Dyspepsia)

  • Heavy or junk food exsertion.

  • Lessor interrupted sleep.

  • Irregular food intake timing.

  • Excessive fast or overeating.

  • Allergic or unsuitable or exotic food consumption.

  • Constipation or other GI tract infection or intestinal anomaly.

  • Such a drug like aspirin or other causes GI disturbance.

  • So much alcohol or caffeine intake.


  • Symptoms of Indigestion (Dyspepsia)

  • Bloating.

  • Belching.

  • Heartburn.

  • Abnormal sounds in the stomach.

  • Nausea.

  • Vomiting.

  • Constipation.

  • Home Remedies For Indigestion (Dyspepsia)

  • Add one teaspoon of roasted Coriander (dhaniya) seed powder to a glass of buttermilk and drink it once or twice a day.

  • Mix one teaspoon of roasted Cumin (jeera) seed powder in a glass of water and drink it.

  • Mix equal parts of Ginger juice (adrak ka ras) with Lemon juice (nimbu ka ras) and add some rock salt (sendha namak, khanij namak) and take it before meals.

  • Take 2-3 gm of dried Ginger (adrak) powder with lukewarm water.

  • Take carrot juice.

  • Take 1 tsp. of peppermint oil three times a day between meals.

  • Chew and swallow a spoonful of fennel or caraway seeds to stop indigestion.

  • Roast, grind and sieve fennel seeds. Take half a teaspoon of this powder along with water twice daily.

  • Take 10 gm of old Jaggery (gud) with a pinch of Long pepper (piplamul, Lindi pepper, piplamool) powder.

  • Mix 3 gm of Ajowan (ajwain) powder with 3 gm of dried Ginger powder and take it one hour before meals.

  • Eat easy-to-digest and warm-fresh food.

  • Avoid taking heavy and junk food.

  • Take appropriate knowledge of your disease, and get checked for it from the consultant.

  • Don’t take caffeine and alcohol.

  • Sip warm water the whole day.
