What is a Fracture?


It is a medical term used to describe a broken or cracked bone. It may result due to an accident or injury in which the bone is subject to great force or physical stress.

Causes of Fracture

  • Trauma.

  • Falling from an elevation.

  • Excessive use of body parts(bones) in some sports.

  • Osteoporosis.

  • Other metabolic diseases.

  • Deficiency of some essential nutrients.


  • Symptoms of Fracture

  • Swelling over the affected area.

  • Severe pain.

  • Restricted or no movement of the joint.

  • Sometimes redness and bruising or bleeding.


  • Home Remedies For Fracture and Dislocation

  • Take 5 to 6 Garlic (lahasun) cloves and add them to mustard oil. Warm the mix and add a pinch of turmeric to it. Soak a cloth in this solution and tie it around the fractured bone for 1-2 days.

  • Drink Turmeric (Haldi) milk or wrap turmeric and onion paste for 1-2 days around the fractured area for relief.

  • Roast wheat flour (gehu ka atta) in some ghee till it becomes brown and then adds some water, twice the quantity of wheat flour taken. When water evaporates add sugar equal to wheat flour, wait till it dissolves. Eat this at breakfast time.

  • Drink Coconut water (nariyal paani) daily.

  • Aloe vera will help to encourage the healing of broken bones and can be applied externally as a gel, or taken internally.

  • Eat fresh pineapple every day until it's completely healed.

  • Eat one leaf of Ficus Religiosa (Pipal tree) with Jaggery (gud), daily.


  • Diet and regimen for Fracture

  • Take a wholesome diet, avoid taking heavy fried or junk food.

  • Take Amla powder, Bala, Ashwagandha, and Asthishrinkhala(Cedrus quadrangularis) powder according to the physician.

  • Avoid taking too much sugar in the diet.

  • Take advice from the physician for the plaster or other bandages and their changing times.

  • After the plasters were removed, consult the physiotherapist or consultant for the movement and rehabilitation exercises.
