What is Dry Mouth?

  • A dry mouth is a condition when salivary glands are not secreting adequate salivation to keep the mouth wet.

  • A feeling of the stickiness in the mouth

  • Sticky saliva or no salivation

  • Frequent gum or teeth diseases

  • Fungal infections

  • Cracked or chapped lips

  • Home Remedies For Dry Mouth

  • If chemotherapy and radiation for therapy are going on, do rehydrate the body well with simple water, juices, milk, fruits, vegetable soup, lentil soup, amla juice, etc.

  • In any type of viral infection take hot water or medicated water according to symptoms.

  • In the aging process, take a wholesome and nutritious diet, including cow ghee, fruits, and vegetables in routine.

  • Take green gram soup, rice gruel, lime water, honey, and cow ghee on the regular diet.

  • Do gargle with 1 t.spoon of sesame water with warm water twice a day, which is beneficial.

  • Apply honey to the oral cavity and tongue for 15-20 minutes, which is useful.

  • Chew gulaknda(preparation of rose petals and sugar) and fennel seeds after diet, it heals sore and keeps hydrating the mouth.

  • Take hot water gargle frequently in a day for normalizes the salivation.

  • Take nasya therapy, it is also beneficial to increase salivation.

  • Taking amla juice with honey 2-3 times a day is also useful.

  • Do exercise of face and mouth for muscle stimulation and salivary secretions.

  • Chew sugarless chewing gums, amla candy, or herbal candy for hydrating the mouth.

  • Avoid alcohol preparation and tobacco chewing.

  • Use non-alcoholic mouth wash for cleaning the mouth.
