What is Anaemia/Anemia?

Hemoglobin is a protein (metalloprotein) inside the red blood cells that contains iron and transports oxygen. The normal level of hemoglobin is generally different in males and females. For males, it is 13.8 to 17.2 gm/dl and for females, it is 12.1 to 15.1 gm/dl. Anemia is a condition where the decrease in the number of red blood cells (RBC) or hemoglobin levels than normal, thereby reducing the amount of oxygen carried to the lungs and other organs of the body.
