Causes of vomiting in children

Vomiting in children is not always a serious problem. It might be caused by a virus or food poisoning. If vomiting is frequently observed in your child then it might be troublesome. Here are some of the common causes:

  • Infection of the digestive tract due to a virus.

  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease.

  • Narrowing or blockage of the passage out of the stomach.

  • Movement of one segment of the intestine into another.

  • Food allergy.

  • Gastroenteritis.

  • Milk intolerance.

  • Sudden swallowing.

  • If the vomiting is associated with food poisoning, taking the juice of holy basil with honey is much more effective.

  • Take leaves of Jamun, and make juice out of it, this juice is beneficial for vomiting associated with cold and cough.

  • Take jeera powder in a pan and burn it, the fume inhalation of is this also an effective remedy for vomiting.

  • Take a pinch of clove powder with honey to eliminate anorexia and vomiting.

  • Give your child some fluids every 20 to 30 minutes.

  • Mix 6 level teaspoons of sugar and 1/2 level teaspoon of salt in 1 liter of water and give three to four tablespoons of this solution every 15-20 minutes during the next hour of vomiting. Be very careful to mix the correct amounts. Too much sugar can make diarrhoea worse. Too much salt can be extremely harmful to the child.

  • Squeeze juice from a small piece of grated ginger (adarak) and add a few drops of honey (shahad) and mix it. Give this mixture to your child twice or thrice a day.

  • Take 1 tablespoon of fresh mint leaves juice and add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to it. Give this to your child.

  • Boil a cup of white rice in two cups of water. Half-boil the rice then strain the excess water and give it to your child.

  • Feed your child with rice, dry cereal, cooked carrots, bananas, boiled potatoes, or any other fruits and vegetables they want to eat.

  • Give small sips of lime or lemon (nimboo) water or soda to your child. It helps to relieve the symptoms of vomiting.

  • In vomiting with loss of appetite take ginger (adarak) and onion juice with a pinch of rock salt is useful.

  • Take a coconut shell’s hair, burn it on charcoal or in a mud pot, and take it with honey.

  • Make the juice of fresh grapes and give this juice with honey. This is beneficial for vomiting in below 2 years age of children.

  • Nutmeg (jaayaphal) powder with gruel of rice helps in severe vomiting.

  • In continuous vomiting, make ash from pipal bark, mix it with water, give rest for 1 hour, strain carefully and give it to the child.

  • Take dill leaves juice with lemon juice will get rid of vomiting.
