What is a tooth problem in children?

Tooth Problem sometimes regarded as Tooth Decay. It is also called dental caries. It is a disease that causes damage to the tooth structure. After eating if any bits of food are left on the teeth, the germs in your mouth can turn those tiny bits into acid. Over time, this acid eats away at the surface of the tooth, creating holes or cavities. That causes pain in the tooth.

Causes of tooth problem in children

In the case of bottle-feeding kids, they may suffer from Bottle Tooth Decay. That often occurs in the upper front teeth, but other teeth may also be affected. The common cause is the frequent, prolonged exposure of the baby's teeth to drinks that contain sugar. Tooth decay can occur when the baby is put to bed with a bottle or when a bottle is used as a pacifier for a fussy baby. Some other main reasons are:

  • Oral and dental care is most important in children because they have likely to have infections that hamper the normal growth of teeth and other functions.

  • Apply powder of Fire flame bush (dhataki) flowers along with the juice of Indian gooseberry (amla) fruit and honey (shahad) on the gums.

  • Make small pieces of potato and cool them in the fridge. Give the child pieces of cold potato and tell them to place inside the mouth on the tooth that is paining.

  • Take a powder of clove and rock salt, and burn it on a pan, this ash is useful as manjan (powder mouth cleanser), as it removes bacterial and other microbial growth in the mouth as well as in the tooth.

  • Take turmeric powder, asafoetida, and ash of babool wood, and mix it in a grinder, this powder is very much useful as an emergency pain reliever in toothache.

  • In irregular growth of the teeth, there is some exercise of mouth and mandibles, and preventive cure of infection by the proper choice of the toothcare utensils and the methods.

  • Toothbrushing techniques are circular, up and down, in and out are recommended for the children according to their age.

  • After taking a meal child might clean the mouth by rinsing with hot or turmeric water, reducing dental caries and toothache.

  • Mouth rinses (kaval and gandusha) with the tila taila or medicated oils are recommended for toothache and healthier growth of the tooth and avoidance of crooked teeth.

  • Nutmeg powder and bark of the neem are very useful in black teeth, dental caries, and pyorrhea also.

  • Tooth brushing with the twig of neem, Karanja (Pongamia pinnata), and black catechu are useful for the healthy growth of a tooth.

  • In toothache or ulcer in the gum region, licorice root chewing is also helpful to reduce pain and redness.

  • Avoid taking bakery items, cakes, chocolates, and sweets, especially at bedtime.

  • To strengthen the teeth, take black catechu with sesame oil, and rub it on the gums and teeth twice a day is beneficial.

  • Asafoetida is the best home remedy for toothache and dental carries.

  • In crooked teeth, with the braces for avoiding infection due to food particles, rinse with the decoction of panchvalkal kwath twice a day or after every meal.
