What is a fever in children?

If the body temperature is more than 99.5F (normal level) then it is considered a fever. Most of the kid's body temperature changes a little bit during the day. It is usually a little lower in the morning and a little higher in the evening and can vary as kids run around, play and exercise. Fever helps the body to fight infections and increases the body's natural defenses. By increasing the body's temperature, a fever makes it harder for the bacteria and viruses to survive in the body and cause infection.

Causes of fever in children
